How Often Should You Get a Psychic Reading?

If you had a psychic reading about Bob on Monday and absolutely nothing has happened since, you probably don’t need another reading about Bob on Wednesday.

We don’t have new energy. We have Wednesday.

There isn’t a universally correct amount of time to wait between psychic readings. You don’t need one every month because somebody decided monthly sounded responsible. You don’t need to wait six months because you’ve used up your allotted psychic minutes for the quarter. And despite what you may find elsewhere on the internet, I don’t think getting another reading tomorrow because you had one today qualifies as giving the situation time to develop.

The better question isn’t “How long has it been since my last psychic reading?”

It’s “Has anything actually changed?”

That’s a much better way to decide whether there’s something new worth looking at.

There Is No Psychic Reading Schedule

People like schedules because schedules feel like rules, and rules save us from having to make judgment calls.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned? There’s a schedule for that.

How often should I change the oil in my car? There’s a recommendation.

How often should I get a psychic reading?

Now we’re in different territory.

There is no Psychic Dental Association recommending two cleanings and one career reading per year.

You could get three readings in three months and have perfectly good reasons for every one of them. Maybe the first was about your business, the second was about something happening in your family and the third was because you had a bizarre experience you wanted another perspective on.

Those are three different things.

Meanwhile, somebody else could get three readings in three months asking exactly the same question about exactly the same person while absolutely nothing has changed.

The number of readings isn’t really the issue.

What you’re using them for is.

The Better Question: Has Anything Changed?

Let’s return to Bob.

You had a reading Monday because Bob hasn’t called.

On Tuesday, Bob still hasn’t called.

Wednesday morning arrives. Still no Bob.

Technically, time has passed. But the situation hasn’t changed.

There isn’t necessarily anything new for another psychic to read. You’re still standing in the same place looking at the same information, except now you’re two days more annoyed.

Compare that with this:

You had a reading Monday because Bob hadn’t called. On Wednesday, Bob sends you a six-paragraph text message, announces he’s moving to Idaho and casually mentions that he’s engaged to someone named Denise.

Okay.

We have developments.

Now you may have entirely new questions because the situation itself has changed.

That’s the distinction I wish more people made when deciding whether to get another reading.

Don’t watch the calendar.

Watch the situation.

Asking Again Doesn’t Necessarily Create New Information

This is where psychic readings can become a little like repeatedly checking the tracking information on a package.

You checked at 10:00.

It’s still in Phoenix.

You check at 10:17.

Still Phoenix.

At 10:42, you check again just in case the United States Postal Service has achieved teleportation.

We do this because waiting is uncomfortable.

The same thing can happen with readings.

You asked whether the relationship was likely to reconcile. The reading gave you an answer. Three days later, you’re uncomfortable because nothing has happened yet, so you ask again.

Then again.

Eventually, you’re not really asking because the situation changed.

You’re checking.

And checking feels productive because you’re doing something.

Unfortunately, checking something more frequently doesn’t necessarily make it move faster.

Sometimes you have to let real life catch up with the reading.

When Another Psychic Reading Actually Makes Sense

There are plenty of reasons to get another reading, including fairly soon after the last one.

Something significant changed.

You received new information.

Someone made a decision.

You made a decision.

An opportunity appeared or disappeared.

The situation moved into a new phase.

You want to look at a completely different subject.

Or maybe enough time really has passed that you’re no longer asking about the same circumstances you were looking at before.

All of those can create something new to explore.

You also don’t need to be in crisis to get a reading. Some people enjoy periodic readings because they like having another perspective on what’s developing in their lives. There’s nothing inherently unhealthy about that.

The question is whether the reading is adding information or whether it’s temporarily soothing the discomfort of not knowing.

Those are not the same thing.

Sometimes You Don’t Want Insight. You Want Relief.

This is probably the biggest warning sign that it’s time to stop getting readings for a while.

You aren’t actually looking for new information anymore.

You’re trying to make a feeling go away.

Maybe you’re anxious because you don’t know whether someone is coming back. Maybe you’re waiting to hear about a job. Maybe you made a decision and now you’re terrified you made the wrong one.

You get a reading.

For a little while, you feel better.

Then the uncertainty creeps back in.

So you get another reading.

You feel better again.

Until you don’t.

At that point, the reading isn’t really functioning as insight. It’s functioning as reassurance.

And reassurance has an extremely short shelf life when the underlying problem is that you cannot tolerate not knowing what happens next.

You can spend a staggering amount of money trying to make uncertainty disappear this way.

It still won’t disappear.

Life is rude like that.

Asking Five Psychics Usually Doesn’t Clear Things Up

There’s another version of the same loop.

You get a reading and don’t like the answer.

So you ask another psychic.

Psychic #2 gives you a slightly different answer.

Well, now we have a problem.

Obviously, the responsible thing to do is consult Psychic #3.

Psychic #3 agrees with Psychic #1 but adds that Bob is afraid of commitment.

Psychic #4 says there’s another woman.

Psychic #5 says you and Bob have a karmic contract from ancient Egypt.

You started with one question.

Now you have a committee.

And somehow you know less than you did before.

Different psychics can absolutely pick up different things about the same situation. They can interpret information differently. They may be looking at different layers of what’s happening. And, yes, sometimes one of them may simply be wrong.

Getting more readings doesn’t automatically reveal which answer is correct.

Sometimes it just gives you more answers.

If you’re collecting psychic opinions until somebody finally gives you the one you wanted in the first place, that’s probably a sign to stop asking for a while.

It’s Okay to Ask the Same Question Again

I don’t believe there’s some universal rule that says you can never ask a psychic the same question twice.

Of course you can.

Circumstances change.

People change.

You change.

A relationship you asked about six months ago may be in a completely different place today. A career question from January may look very different after a promotion, a new boss or a layoff. Something that appeared stuck may suddenly start moving.

The important distinction is whether you’re revisiting the question because the situation has evolved or because you didn’t like waiting for the original answer to unfold.

Those are two very different reasons to ask again.

Regular Psychic Readings Aren’t Automatically a Problem

I want to make this clear because the answer isn’t “psychic readings are only for emergencies.”

Some people genuinely like having readings periodically.

They find them useful for reflection. They like checking in on patterns. They enjoy having someone outside the situation look at what’s developing. They may have an ongoing relationship with a reader whose style works particularly well for them.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

Regular readings become a problem when you stop trusting yourself without one.

If you can’t make an ordinary decision until you’ve checked with your psychic, that’s a problem.

If every uncomfortable feeling requires a reading, that’s a problem.

If you panic because your usual reader isn’t available and immediately start searching for someone else who can answer the question tonight, that’s worth paying attention to.

A psychic should be one source of perspective in your life.

They should not become your outsourced frontal lobe.

A Good Psychic Should Occasionally Tell You That You Don’t Need Another Reading

This may be a terrible business strategy.

I don’t care.

Sometimes the correct answer to “Should I get another reading about this?” is no.

Nothing has changed.

You already have the information.

Now you have to live for a minute.

A psychic shouldn’t need to manufacture a new layer every time you become uncomfortable with the old one.

There will always be another card we could pull. Another question we could ask. Another angle we could investigate. If we really put our minds to it, I’m sure we could keep going until we’re asking what Bob’s higher self’s inner child thinks about Denise.

At some point, you have to stop reading the situation and allow yourself to experience it.

That’s not withholding guidance.

That’s having boundaries around what guidance is actually for.

So How Long Should You Wait Between Psychic Readings?

There isn’t one answer.

If tomorrow something genuinely changes, tomorrow may be perfectly reasonable.

If nothing changes for three months, you may not need another reading about that situation for three months.

And if you want another reading next month about something completely different, that’s not automatically “too many readings” just because thirty days haven’t elapsed.

Instead of asking whether you’ve waited the correct number of days, ask yourself:

Has something changed?

Do I have a new question?

Am I looking for insight, or am I trying to feel better for a few hours?

Did I give the last reading enough time to actually become useful?

Those questions will tell you much more than any arbitrary schedule.

The Goal Is to Need the Psychic Less, Not More

I realize that may sound strange coming from someone who makes money giving psychic readings.

But I don’t think a good reading should train you to immediately need another one.

It should help you see something more clearly.

Then you take that information back into your actual life. You make choices. You watch what happens. You notice what changes. You use your own judgment.

And when there’s something new you genuinely can’t see clearly because you’re standing in the middle of it?

That’s a perfectly good time to get another reading.

Until then, Bob can sit there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you get psychic readings too often?

Yes, particularly if you’re repeatedly asking about the same unchanged situation or using readings primarily to relieve anxiety. The number itself matters less than why you keep going back.

How long should you wait between psychic readings?

There isn’t a required waiting period. A better guideline is to wait until circumstances have changed, new information has appeared or you have a genuinely new question. If nothing has changed, simply waiting another 24 hours doesn’t necessarily create something new to read.

Is it bad to ask a psychic the same question twice?

No. Situations evolve, and it can make sense to revisit a question after meaningful changes. Repeatedly asking the same question while nothing has changed, however, usually creates more confusion rather than more clarity.

Can you ask different psychics the same question?

You can, but getting multiple readings on the same question can produce conflicting answers and make you less certain than you were originally. If you’ve already received a thoughtful reading, consider giving the situation time to develop before collecting additional opinions.

How often should you get a tarot reading?

The same principle applies to tarot readings: there isn’t a universally correct weekly, monthly or yearly schedule. Get another reading when there’s something useful to explore, not simply because a certain amount of time has passed.

How do you know when you need another psychic reading?

Another reading may be useful when circumstances have materially changed, you’ve learned something new, you’re entering a different phase of the situation or you have another issue you want to explore. If you’re only hoping to hear the previous answer again, waiting may be more useful.
