The brass has darkened considerably with age, with areas of oxidation, staining, surface wear, rust and dents throughout. It has a removable fitted lid with a knob handle and a wonderfully battered appearance that only comes from actually surviving a few decades.
Originally intended for tobacco, I think its second life is much better suited to an altar, apothecary shelf or cabinet of curiosities.
Use it to hold charms, petitions, bones, crystals, divination pieces, dried botanicals or whatever small mysterious things you've accumulated and currently have sitting in a Ziploc bag somewhere.
Altar & Ritual Uses
A lidded vessel is particularly useful when you want something contained, protected or kept out of sight.
I like this one for written petitions and intentions, charms and divination pieces, crystals or small ritual objects, dried herbs and botanicals for decorative or ritual use, an ancestor altar or spirit space, curiosity cabinet storage, or simply sitting there looking like it knows something.
Because this is an old metal vessel with an unknown history and considerable age-related wear, I do not recommend using it for food, beverages, tobacco or anything intended for consumption.

Vintage Condition
This piece is heavily aged and imperfect. Please expect dents, scratches, oxidation, discoloration, tarnish, rust, staining and substantial surface wear.
I have intentionally left it in its found condition rather than polishing away decades of patina. This is for someone who wants an old object to actually look old, not like it was attacked with Brasso five minutes before being photographed.
The interior should also be considered vintage and used. I have not tested it for food safety or attempted to return it to functional humidor condition.
