An antique Victorian cabinet card from Wheeler Studio in Unadilla, New York, featuring a very proper young woman who looks approximately three seconds away from telling the teacher what everyone else did.

You know her.

The teacher forgot to collect the homework and she reminded her.

This antique cabinet card features a young woman dressed in a dark high-necked Victorian dress, complete with puffed shoulders, floral adornment and the alert expression of someone who has recently witnessed a rule being broken.

Even better, the photographer seems to have caught her with her mouth slightly open.

Was she speaking? Was that simply how the exposure caught her? Was she about to tell Mr. Wheeler that somebody had been passing notes?

Lost to history.

The card is marked Wheeler, Unadilla, N.Y. and has a wonderful scalloped edge and decorative photographer's mount that gives it considerably more personality than the standard plain cabinet card.

I have not done a psychic reading on this photograph. She's arriving with no invented history, no ghost story and no guarantee that she won't immediately report your activities to management.

Perfect for an antique photo collection, cabinet of curiosities, gothic gallery wall, Halloween display, Victorian-inspired altar, or your own intuitive and divination work.

Condition

Authentic antique condition with fading, toning, discoloration and general surface and edge wear consistent with age. The photograph itself has become quite pale over time, particularly toward the lower portion.

The scalloped card mount remains one of the nicest visual details.
