This is one of those rings where more is more, and whoever designed it clearly had no interest in leaving an empty patch of metal anywhere.
The elongated face is covered in elaborate filigree, curling scrollwork and tiny decorative details that give it the appearance of an old amulet or piece of ceremonial jewelry. There’s enough going on here that you can keep discovering little bits of the design every time you look at it.
I especially like pieces like this as personal talismans. There’s a long history across cultures of wearing elaborate jewelry and symbolic objects for protection, luck and spiritual purposes, and while I’m not assigning any specific historical meaning to this particular ring, it certainly has that keep your bullshit over there energy.
It’s also just a fabulous giant silver-tone statement ring, which is sometimes reason enough.
