Look at the fire in this thing.
This natural Ethiopian opal has a translucent body with flashes of orange, red, green and yellow that appear and disappear as the stone moves through the light. The pear-shaped cabochon is set into an ornate white bronze setting with scrolling details along the band, giving it a slightly old-world magical-object quality that suits the stone perfectly.
Opal has always felt a little supernatural to me because you can stare straight into one and still not quite understand how all of that color is happening in there.
Metaphysically, opal is traditionally associated with intuition, creativity, inspiration, passion and transformation. It's a particularly good stone for those periods when you've gone a little flat—creatively, emotionally or spiritually—and need to remember what actually excites you.
That's why I'd use this one as a light-the-fire-again ring.
