This is one of those pieces where the scratches don't bother me because the cabinet already has presence.
Made in Korea, the cabinet has warm reddish wood, traditional joinery visible along the sides, two opening doors and a surprisingly generous little interior. The original Korean paper label remains attached to the back and is dated 2002, giving us at least a little more information than the usual vintage-object mystery.
It was not originally sold as an altar cabinet, but that's absolutely where my mind went.
Open the doors and build a private little devotional space inside. Add photographs of ancestors, a candle, crystals, petitions, protective objects, tarot cards, small statues, spirit offerings or whatever belongs in your particular practice. Close the doors when you're finished and everything disappears back into its own little world.
It could also make a fantastic spirit cabinet, ancestor shrine, manifestation cabinet or home for a small collection of meaningful objects.
And unlike a lot of altar furniture, it doesn't require surrendering half the living room to the cause.

I particularly like the doors for spiritual work. There's something wonderfully intentional about opening a space when you're working with it and closing it again when you're done.

Condition
Pre-owned and not in perfect condition.
There are scratches, scuffs, finish wear and other signs of previous use throughout. The original paper label on the back also shows age, staining and wear. I have not attempted to refinish or disguise any of it.
Please look carefully at all photographs because they are part of the condition description and show the exact cabinet you will receive.
Personally, I think a little altar cabinet looks better when it appears to have already lived a life. A pristine one would feel suspiciously like something purchased at HomeGoods last Tuesday.
