The oversized brass base originally belonged to something else entirely—what exactly, I’m not sure—and honestly, that mystery is part of why this works so well. Paired with the vintage Taiwan-made doll head and wrapped in a 108-bead black obsidian mala, the entire piece shifts from “object” into full curiosity cabinet territory.
The doll head itself isn’t perfect. There’s visible wear near the lip along with age-related scuffs that add to the found-object character instead of taking away from it. The brass has patina, scratches, and that heavy old-world warmth that newer decor never quite gets right.
And then the obsidian beads change everything.
Without them, it’s strange.
With them, it feels intentional.
