The griffin — part eagle, part lion — has been used in mythology and decorative arts for centuries as a symbol of protection, strength, vigilance and guardianship. Traditionally associated with guarding treasures and sacred places, which makes this little beast particularly well suited to an altar, spiritual space, bookshelf or anywhere else that could use a mythical security system.
This one measures approximately 6.75" tall, so it's substantial enough to have presence without requiring you to surrender half the bookshelf.
The metal has a dark bronze-toned finish with lighter highlights across the wings, face, body and edges that bring out the sculptural detail. I especially love the exaggerated wings and curled tail — from the side, the silhouette is fantastic.

Condition
This is a pre-owned piece and shows signs of previous ownership, including minor surface wear, scratches and finish variation. The aged bronze appearance works particularly well with the sculptural details.
The underside is unfinished/open as shown in the photos and is part of the construction of the piece, not damage.
