Why Does Kesha Collect Human Teeth?

Some celebrities collect cars. Others collect art, watches, vintage clothes or houses they visit twice a year. Kesha would like your teeth.

Not a picture of your teeth or a tooth-shaped charm. Your actual former teeth. The ones that used to be attached to you.

And before you assume this was one weird interview answer that got mangled on its way around the internet, no. Kesha has been asking people for their teeth for more than a decade. Fans have obliged. At one point, she said she’d received more than 1,000 of them. She’s made jewelry with them, turned them into wearable art and kept others in jars around her house. In 2026, she confirmed that fans still send them to her.

Which leaves us with the obvious question: why in God’s name does Kesha have a thousand human teeth?

It Started With One Tooth

The story goes back to at least 2011, when Kesha was still Ke$ha and Tik Tok had recently turned her into the glitter-covered patron saint of waking up in bathtubs.

According to old posts that have since resurfaced, a fan sent her a tooth. Kesha turned it into a necklace and apparently decided one tooth was insufficient. She wanted enough fan teeth to make something she could wear to an awards show, so she did what any reasonable pop star would do and asked the internet to mail her its discarded dental material.

People actually did. A lot of them.

Kesha eventually said she’d received more than 1,000 human teeth from fans. Over the years, those teeth became necklaces, earrings, a belt and perhaps the crown jewel of the collection—literally—a tooth-covered crown or headdress.

This could have remained a bizarre little artifact of early Twitter, filed somewhere between celebrities oversharing at 2 a.m. and all of us apparently agreeing that putting our lunch on Instagram was important historical documentation. Instead, Kesha kept the teeth and kept collecting them.

She Even Asked Fans for Teeth From Rehab

In January 2014, Kesha entered a treatment facility for an eating disorder. While she was there, a message appeared on her Twitter account from a friend saying Kesha was doing well—and needed more fan teeth so she could make art at the treatment center.

This is where somebody at the facility apparently had to deal with a workplace problem not covered during orientation: no, you cannot have people mail human teeth here.

A representative for the facility told TMZ at the time that real teeth couldn’t be accepted because human remains could potentially present a biohazard. Fake teeth were reportedly fine.

Imagine being the person responsible for opening that mail before the rule was clarified.

The Great Rehab Tooth Embargo did not, however, end the collection.

In 2026, Kesha Was Still Asking for Your Teeth

This summer, Kesha brought the subject up again during an appearance on Las Culturistas with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, and she didn’t sound like someone sheepishly explaining a strange phase she’d grown out of.

Kesha explained that her fascination originally grew from her connection with her fans. Someone mentioned that their child had lost a tooth, and Kesha wanted it because she could use it to make jewelry. One thing led to another, as apparently happens when your arts-and-crafts supply is human teeth, and she eventually had enough for necklaces, earrings, a belt and a crown. At some point she simply became a collector.

Part of the appeal now is apparently that the collection freaks out straight men. Teeth are displayed around her house in little jars, and Kesha once again invited people to send theirs rather than throw them away.

This is where the story becomes more interesting than Celebrity Has Weird Hobby, because Kesha collects more than anonymous fan teeth.

Apparently, Kesha Is the Tooth Fairy

Earlier in 2026, Kesha talked about the collection on Call Her Daddy and explained that she also keeps teeth belonging to people—and animals—she loves. Her cats had teeth extracted, for example, and she kept those too.

She described herself as being a bit like the tooth fairy and explained that having a small physical piece of someone she loves can remind her of that person. That makes the whole thing slightly less random. Still weird, certainly, but weird with a thesis.

A tooth isn’t just a trinket somebody bought for her. It was literally part of that person. For someone who talks about her fans with enormous affection, a necklace made from their teeth is arguably the world’s most aggressive friendship bracelet.

And if you’re wondering whether this habit of keeping pieces of bodies ends with teeth, I’m afraid I have additional information.

Then There’s the Placenta

During that same Call Her Daddy appearance, Kesha was carrying something unusual with her: a piece of her own placenta.

Her mother had apparently saved Kesha’s placenta after she was born. Kesha said her mother believed it had spiritual properties connected to second sight and opening the third eye. Years later, Kesha had part of it incorporated into a gold heart-shaped pendant that she carries with her.

Suddenly the jars of teeth have company.

Kesha has spoken openly for years about spirituality, rituals and her interest in things well outside the beige confines of ordinary celebrity hobbies. She has discussed rituals, spirit guides and angels, which makes the teeth more interesting to me than they would be if they were simply a shock-value collection gathering dust in a closet.

Not because collecting teeth automatically means something sinister. Human beings have been keeping hair, ashes, baby teeth and other physical remnants of people they love forever. Victorians were making elaborate jewelry out of dead people’s hair while presumably judging somebody else’s table manners. Objects can be sentimental without being supernatural.

But I’m a psychic. You give me roughly a thousand pieces of human beings collected in jars inside one house, and eventually I’m going to have a follow-up question.

So Is Anything Attached to Kesha’s Teeth?

That’s the question the celebrity interviews can’t answer.

Kesha has already told us why she collects them. She loves making art. She likes physical keepsakes. She feels connected to the people they came from. She enjoys freaking people out. She is clearly comfortable with the strange and macabre.

Fair enough.

But teeth are different from fan letters. If you believe, as I do, that objects can sometimes retain an energetic connection to people, what happens when you deliberately gather hundreds upon hundreds of objects that were once physically part of hundreds of different human beings? Does combining them into something Kesha actually wears make any difference? And what in the hell does the energy around a crown made from strangers’ teeth look like?

I had questions. Fortunately, I also have tarot cards.

I took Kesha’s tooth collection into Moon Moth Manor to look at the part of this story Google can’t answer: what, if anything, is energetically attached to those teeth—and whether a thousand tiny pieces of other people amount to something more than one extremely unusual art supply.
