The Basics About Stones For Chakras

stones for chakras

Crystal healing is done by placing specific stones for chakras according to their location in or around the body to work with the subtle energy fields. The easiest way to select the proper stone for chakras can be done by matching the color of the crystal to the chakra you’d like to balance. The other way to choose the right stones for chakras is to select one crystal that is said to align and balance all chakras, such as Blue Kyanite and Selenite.

First things first, what are chakras?

Chakras are seven energy vortices within your invisible energy system that you can imagine as pinwheels of color. The word “chakra” means energy disc or spinning wheel. They spin quickly and colorfully when they are balanced.

Chakras are seven energy vortices within your invisible energy system. The word “chakra” means energy disc or spinning wheel. Seven main chakras run from the base of your spine to the top of your head. There are 114 total chakras in your body, but we’re only going over seven today.

Chakras are linked with organs, body functions, glands, and emotions. Just as your central nervous system regulates all the messages within your physical body, the seven energy vortices known as chakras regulate all the messages within the etheric body, playing a pivotal role in your overall well-being.

Chakra is first mentioned in Hindu texts dating around 1500 BCE. And many other cultures like the Egyptians, Chinese, Hindus, Greeks, Native Americans, Incas and have similar knowledge of a chakra system which I think is impressive since it’s not like these cultures were sharing this information with each via the internet or mail.

Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama says, “The chakras are also intermediaries between the physical body and consciousness, between the astral body and manas (mind), and between the causal body and the Karana (causal mind), that is, between the body and the mind of each dimension. Further, the chakras act to integrate the interrelationship between the three bodies and minds in a holistic manner.”

Dr. Valerie V. Hunt at UCLA conducted a study to measure chakras and the human energy field. She attached electrodes that are usually used to measure the electrical potential of muscles to measure energy variations on the skin corresponding to the chakra location. Dr. Hunt found that the frequency is higher at the spots where the chakras are located. She has a cool 80’s video about seeing the human energy fields.

Our lower chakras hold the key to insecurity, fear, lack of personal power, and unexpressed emotions that get expressed in our physical reality. Usually, these chakras were affected in childhood, and many are unaware that these perceptions are still locked up within.

Our higher chakras are affected by the lower chakras because if the energy in the lower chakras is constricted, it cannot flow up.

The 7 Main Chakras

Root Chakra

The Root Chakra, sitting at the base of the spine, holds our instinctual need for survival. Its color is red.

It’s physically related to adrenal glands, tailbone, legs, feet, and spine.

Fear and trust issues are rooted here - if you rarely feel safe, fear that you’ll never have enough money, or that you’ll never get ahead, these fears and anxieties stem from the root chakra.

Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra, located near your navel and sexual organs, represents our need to allow ourselves to enjoy life and our achievements. Its color is orange.

It’s physically related to the gonads, prostate, kidneys, bladder. Issues of abandonment, social status, and creativity are affected if this chakra isn’t attended to.

You may have had issues of not feeling safe as a child, not feeling like you deserve happiness, feeling inadequate, and overwhelmed by a feeling of guilt and shame, making relationships with others difficult.

Solar Plexus

The Solar Plexus Chakra, located in the abdomen, is associated with our self-esteem, will power, and personal identity.

Its color is yellow and physically related to the digestive system, gallbladder, liver, spleen, pancreas.

When this chakra is in alignment, we follow our intuition, take risks, and act assertively. But if you are having an issue with the Solar Plexus Chakra, you might be having problems with controlling your weight, difficulty setting boundaries for yourself and others, and prone to periods of anxiety and depression.

Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra, located in the center of your chest, represents the bridge between the lower three chakras and the higher three chakras and from where you process and store emotional experiences.

Its color is green and physically related to the heart, lungs, thymus, chest, shoulders, arms, and hands.

This chakra is about being open to giving and receiving love.

You might be experiencing issues with the Heart Chakra by a feeling of a lack of love and security; this might come from believing that you’re unlovable, and you tend to close off your hearts to protect yourself.

Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra, located in the throat and neck, corresponds to your ability to communicate, express yourself, and the ability to speak honestly.

Its color is sky blue and physically related to the throat.

If you’re experiencing issues with your Throat Chakra, you might find that you’ve difficulty expressing your ideas and feelings, worrying about what others will think of you. You may also find trouble expressing yourself in any creative manner.

Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra is located between the eyebrows combining our left and right side of our brains so that we will have discernment and wisdom when it comes to making choices in our lives.

Its color is indigo and physically related to the pineal gland.

An issue with your Third Eye Chakra will show up if you cannot look within or have a lack of self-awareness. Maybe daydreaming becomes an escape from reality, and you find it difficult feeling creative, or it’s challenging to use your imagination.

Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra, located at the top of your head, corresponds to your connection with the Divine. Its color is violet. It’s physically related to the brain and your head.

If you are having an issue with the Crown Chakra, you may find that you experience apathy, excessive egotism, materialism, and a lack of purpose. With a lack of purpose, you might have week moral and ethical beliefs finding that the only thing that matters is what you can possess in the material world.

How To Cleanse Chakra Stones

You can cleanse stones for chakras the same way you cleanse any of your other crystals. You can cleanse your crystals with sound in five minutes flat. You can also smudge your crystals with Sage or Palo Santo. Or place your chakra stones on a selenite plate.

How To Activate Chakra Stones

Your intention is how you can activate your chakra stones easily. Simply hold your complete set of chakra crystals in your hand, close your eyes, and set the intention that your crystals are going to help you balance your chakras. That’s it, easy peasy chakra stone activation.

How To Use Chakra Stones

There are two ways to use stones for chakras.

The first method involves focusing on a specific chakra and holding a crystal to support its balancing in your hands. Please take five minutes and meditate with the crystal as you visualize your chakras spinning wheel of energy picking up speed and beaming its bright color.

The second method is to lay the appropriate stone to its coordinating chakra area. You can choose a crystal that corresponds to the color of the chakra or by selecting one that you resonate from below.
