Make More Money By Firing Yourself

First she complained that she hadn't been on a vacation in over a year and she was burned the eff out. She promised next year she would take a vacation twice a year so she could avoid being such an apathetic a-hole.

She was totally scattered. She was supposed to be working on one thing and then she got distracted. So the task she was supposed to be working on didn't get completed that day. Or the next. Only when she felt "inspired". Fuck.

Don't get me wrong, she does work hard. Without her, I wouldn't be hitting the income goals I set last January. But I really haven't been the best boss to her. I haven't insisted she take the time to enjoy life or help her to focus on her priorities.

Who is she? Me.

I have been the worst employee this month. I'd would totally fire my ass.

I got burned out. I 've been going 11 months straight and working 6 days a week without a break, that's not bad. It's like not changing the oil in the car for like nine thousand miles, right?

But that's not how I will continue to grow.

I've gotten distracted, burned out, annoyed and flat out uninspired.

I have to set better boundaries, rules and lay out a plan that doesn't have me pulling the "Squirrel!" every day.

Are you gonna be fired? Here's how to tell...

You're a pissy person. You hate all the tasks you have to do to grow your business. You're overworked and about ready to go postal on the next person that asks you the dumbest question ever.

You're doing everything and you're not particularly awesome at everything. A jack of all trades, master of none - yeah. So no bueno.

You plan for nothing. No vacays, no blog posts, no graphics, no newsletters, nada. You're flying by the seat of your pants and then one day you end up in November going holy shit! That was exhausting.

You have two choices

Be your own employee or be the CEO. You can't do it all by yourself. And if you look at yourself as an employee you'd hire, would you fire yourself?

Take a moment (or a couple days) before this year ends and look at your business objectively and strategically. Is it going where you want it to go? Are you doing shit you hate? Are you spending too much time on things that you could hire out? Are you going to be able to keep up?
