The Battle Cry: Fuck You I Won't Do What You Told Me

This needs to be your battle cry:
Fuck You I Won't Do What You Told Me

The prim and proper design professionals want you to use your inside voice.

They want you to behave.

They want you to get your degrees, certifications, and join their design societies so you can show how well behaved you are.

And then what do you get?

You're just like the rest of them. You are the same. You are boring. You are beige.

Beige doesn't sell shit.

If you want to be beige, you don't belong here.

If you want to be hot pink and a force to be reckoned with you belong here.

They decided what the safe path for you was. You can choose to be safe, boring, beige and broke.

Or you can choose to be hot pink, on fucking fire, magnetic and irresistible.

Repeat after me...

Fuck You I Won't Do What You Told Me

You won't be the designer with the glamour shot, perfect hair and creepy overly white teeth, dressed to the nines and intimidating with their fake ass smile.

You will do what you want.

You will be unapologetically you.

You will not apologize for being you.

You will be a trailblazer.

You will break the rules.

You will be the 1%.

You will the leader.

You will build relationships, not count list size.

You will be the advocate for your clients, not putting a dollar amount on their head.

You will be the creative genius they've been searching for in a sea of beige.

You will be the translator of their design dreams.

You will help them tell their story in their home.

You will NOT do what they told you. Unless you want to fail.

They want you to be beige and fit into their homogenous society.

Individuality doesn't help them grow their ranks.

Individuality makes it easier to keep you down, make you think you need to follow their formulas and pretend to be something you're not.

You are a fucking force to be reckoned with.

We don't play it safe. We break rules. We disrupt the norm.

Because normal is boring and safe.

Life's too short to go after the dreams you want playing by their rules.

We're going scorched Earth on putting it out there on full blast what we want.

We want success. We want money. We want clients who fall in love with us. We want it all.

And we deserve it all.

This is a race that you can win without playing by their rules. You have the advantage when you put the pedal to the metal and haul ass. You leave the rest of them in the dust.

But only if you really want it. If you do, then prove it. Give them and their bullshit the finger.
