Online business has become saturated with a ton of fake entrepreneurs, or as I like to call them Shitpreneurs. Whether it's the person who took on 45-minute class and now they think they are an expert. Or the person who peddles some bullshit story of how they used to live in a cardboard box and now they're a millionaire.
You'll see their sparkly websites that have been drizzled in unicorn farts and smell like Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth perfume (gag). You may start to look at them and wonder how they got so gosh darn successful.
They may not actually be all that successful at business or whatever they are peddling, but you'll see all the fan girls and fan boys kissing their bedazzled asses for a whiff of their secret.
And it may leave you with a bad case of comparisonitis. What do they have that you don't?
Besides a load of crap in their pants, not a damn thing. Just a lot of confidence (usually without any real testimonials to prove it) to step into their expert role.
When I was a new entrepreneur in 2009 I would see testimonials on these guru's websites and be impressed. Until I discovered that these people were all basically doing a reach around for their fellow shitpreneurs.
They didn't actually hire these people. They were just fellow fangirls and fanboys who wanted to be associated with that guru. So they gave them an airy-fairy bullshit testimonial about how said guru is a wonderful person that everyone should look up to.
I don't want you to get caught up in their lies and sparkly imagery. I want you to challenge these people with your own brand of awesomeness.
They don't own the market and there is plenty of room for QUALITY businesses. Quality will trump these shitpreneurs.
Be the entrepreneur who loves what you do, values your customers and does everything with integrity.
Here's the other little takeaway... I've been around long enough to see most of these shitpreneurs go out of business. They aren't in it for the long haul. They are in it for the quick buck.
